Parliament: Contracts Between CEB and Corexsolar International (Mauritius) Ltd Terminated, Says Patrick Assirvaden

The contracts linking the Central Electricity Board (CEB) to Corexsolar International (Mauritius) Ltd have been terminated. This was stated by Patrick Assirvaden, the Minister of Energy, in response to a question from MP Joanna Bérenger during Parliament on Tuesday, April 21.

The termination was due to a series of significant blockages that rendered the Belle Vue 2 and 3 projects unfeasible. The project involved the establishment of photovoltaic solar power plants at Belle Vue, in northern Mauritius.

The Minister of Energy mentioned the outright refusal of Novaterra, a subsidiary of the Terra group, to grant the essential easement rights required for connecting the plants to the electrical grid.

Despite several legal efforts, this refusal remained firm, preventing any progress, stated Patrick Assirvaden.

A penalty of Rs 60 million has been imposed on Corexsolar International for delays in executing these projects, the Minister reported.
