Parliament: Family Protection: 198 Cases Handled in the North Since January

Navin Ramgoolam provided detailed figures regarding the activities of the Family Protection Brigade in the Northern Division, in response to a question from MP Nitish Beejan. From January 1 to April 17, 2026, a total of 198 cases have been reported. Specifically, 132 cases relate to domestic violence. Among these, 50 involve physical abuse, 48 involve verbal abuse, and 22 involve threats of violence. Additionally, there are six cases of psychological abuse.
