Accident in Solitude: Rye Joorawon, through his lawyer, expresses heartfelt condolences to the victim's family
A bail of Rs 80,000 and an acknowledgment of debt of Rs 250,000 have been set as conditions for jockey Rye Joorawon’s provisional release by the Pamplemousses Court this Friday. He faces a provisional charge of involuntary manslaughter following a road accident that took place last Saturday in Solitude.
According to initial investigation findings, the van driven by the jockey allegedly ran a red light before colliding with Muzaffar Pacquet, who was riding a motorcycle. The 27-year-old was on his way to work on the morning of Saturday, April 18, when he became a victim of this accident.
The investigators' conclusions are supported by footage from Safe City cameras.
Muzaffar Pacquet succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday evening.
Rye Joorawon has enlisted the services of lawyer Yash Bhadain. "My client joins me in extending his deepest condolences to the grieving family. It is very heartbreaking. That said, we cannot comment further as we must allow the investigation to proceed," stated the lawyer.
