PMQT: MRA: Rs 25.7 billion in unpaid taxes

During the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT), Deputy Ram Etwareea questioned Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam about the unpaid tax arrears at the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), which amounted to Rs 25.7 billion as of March 31, 2026.

Corporate tax was the largest contributor, totaling Rs 14.9 billion, followed by VAT at Rs 7.1 billion and income tax at Rs 2.8 billion. These amounts can largely be attributed to declarations made without full payment, among other reasons.
