Mauritius Post Ltd Reports Losses of Rs 282 Million

Mauritius Post Ltd has reported a loss of Rs 282 million. This information was provided by the Minister of ICT, Avinash Ramtohul, in response to a question from Rodrigues MP, Jacques Edouard, in Parliament this Tuesday. He also mentioned a deficit of Rs 1.7 billion and a pension debt of Rs 2.6 billion.

The minister specified that Mauritius Post Ltd has fully utilized its overdraft facility of Rs 177 million and has cashed in a fixed deposit of Rs 200 million to meet its obligations.

This situation is already affecting employees in Mauritius and Rodrigues, with delays in certain payments.

A recovery plan is underway, which includes internal reorganization, cost control, an increase in postal rates, and the development of e-commerce.
