FCC: Bruneau Laurette Calls for an Investigation Against the Head of the Anti-Money Laundering Unit; ASP Balmick Dussoye Strikes Back

Activist Bruneau Laurette has approached the Financial Crimes Commission this Tuesday to demand an investigation against ASP Balmick Dussoye, head of the Anti-Money Laundering Unit at the Central CID. This request aims to shed light on allegations of corruption, influence peddling, and obstruction of justice related to the Menlo Park case, which involves a controversial loan of Rs 45 million granted by the Mauritius Investment Corporation.

Bruneau Laurette has submitted a video recording and screenshots of messages that allegedly reference an "agreement" associated with the functions of ASP Dussoye—if proven true, this could constitute an act of corruption, according to the activist.

The exchanges also mention someone named "Rama," whose role remains unclear but possibly indicates an intermediary who influenced the investigation's direction. Additional details suggest threats of arbitrary detention, premeditated violence, and derogatory remarks towards judicial institutions.

On his part, ASP Dussoye firmly denies these allegations. Early in the afternoon, he went to the Central CID to file a complaint for a violation of the ICT Act, following the dissemination of these screenshots on social media. He claims this is an attempt to remove him from the investigation.
