Aruna Devi Gangoosingh Found Guilty of Violating the ICT Act

Aruna Devi Gangoosingh was found guilty by the Intermediate Court on Tuesday, April 28, for violating the Information and Communication Technologies Act (ICTA). This case dates back to April 10, 2021, when she posted a video on her Facebook page containing remarks deemed disrespectful towards the Mauritian population.

The accused pleaded not guilty, but the court, presided over by Magistrate Essop, ruled in favor of the prosecution. The case has been adjourned to a later date, where the Intermediate Court will hear arguments regarding the sentencing.
