Chamarel: Seizure of over 2.7 kilograms of cannabis valued at Rs 4.1 million

A significant bust was carried out by the Central Division of the ADSU on Thursday, April 30. Acting on reliable information, drug enforcement officers arrested a man named Jean Yannick, 38 years old, in Chamarel.

The alleged trafficker was found in possession of three packages of cannabis weighing a total of 2.79 kilograms. Two searches were conducted at the suspect's two homes, one in Chamarel and another in Bambous, but yielded no results. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be over Rs 4.1 million.

The accused appeared in the Bail and Remand Court on Friday, May 1, facing a preliminary charge of cannabis trafficking. The investigation is ongoing.
