Points-Based License: Increased Penalties for Using a Phone While Driving

The government is tightening penalties for using a phone while driving. During the cabinet meeting on Friday, May 8, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Road Traffic Act to enhance penalties for this offense. Drivers caught using a mobile phone while behind the wheel will now face a deduction of 5 to 10 points from their license, up from the previous 3 to 6 points.
