Internet: ICTA Launches 'KaliteNet' to Measure Network Quality in Mauritius
On Monday, May 11, 2026, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) launched a workshop focused on the quality of internet services in Mauritius, introducing the platform "KaliteNet", a new tool designed to measure network performance through user feedback.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Innovation at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ébène, the workshop brought together several stakeholders from the ICT sector, including Minister Avinash Ramtohul and ICTA Chairman Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum.
The "KaliteNet" platform is based on a participatory system that allows internet users to evaluate the quality of their connection in real-time: speed, stability, latency, and overall internet network performance across different regions of the country.
In his speech, Minister Ramtohul presented this initiative as a new step in Mauritius's digital transformation. He stated that using data provided directly by consumers would enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of services offered in the ICT sector.
He also reminded attendees that this project is part of a series of digital reforms currently being implemented by the government, including mobile number portability, strengthening data protection, and modernizing electronic transactions.
