England: Little Sunderland Upsets Giant Arsenal

In an unexpected twist, Sunderland halted Arsenal's triumphant run with a 2-2 draw on Saturday in the Premier League. Arsenal's defense finally cracked after over 13 hours without conceding a goal. Goalkeeper David Raya hadn't seen his net shaken since late September, when he faced Nick Woltemade in a 2-1 victory against Newcastle.

Dan Ballard opened the scoring for Sunderland in the 36th minute (1-0), while Brian Brobbey equalized in stoppage time (90+4, 2-2), marking a challenging moment for Raya after eight matches without defensive mishaps.

"This late equalizer shows that the team has a lot of character," rejoiced Black Cats' French coach, Régis Le Bris. "Against Arsenal, one of the best teams in Europe, you need to put on a masterclass, or it's impossible to achieve anything," he added.

Arsenal thought they had done the hard part by coming back with goals from captain Bukayo Saka (54th minute, 1-1) and winger Leandro Trossard (74th minute, 1-2), who scored a stunning shot beneath the crossbar.

"What remains is disappointment and frustration," commented Mikel Arteta. However, he acknowledged, "it's not a coincidence they're where they are. They deserve their place, just like us."
