Three young women have filed complaints against their childhood friend's father for sexual abuse. The offenses date back about ten years. Since early April, the police have recorded three complaints against Percy Duval, who has chosen to exercise his right to silence. He faces a preliminary charge of "causing a child to be sexually abused" in court.
This case is expected to have further developments and is handled with great care at the Central Barracks. In an initial statement at the Central Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday, April 1, in the presence of lawyers from the Hawoldar firm, a 14-year-old girl accused Percy Duval of encouraging her to watch pornographic videos. She recounted that she was 4 to 5 years old at the time when she spent the night at her friend’s house, the suspect's daughter.
Sleepovers were common among this group of friends, and the parents often dropped them off at the suspect's home during school vacations. According to the complainant, at that time, the suspect would show her pornographic video clips. However, she admitted that she did not understand what it was back then. It was only as she grew older that she realized the seriousness of the situation. Shocked, she explained that she became mute, expressing feelings of fear. She also recounted that the suspect exposed himself to her on one occasion, prompting her to call her mother immediately to come pick her up.
Second Complaint
On Wednesday, April 8, a second complainant, also 14 years old, told police that she was classmates with the suspect's daughter. She reported that she had spent the night at her friend's house five times in 2021 without any issues. The suspect's wife was absent due to work. On the sixth overnight visit, she recounted that the next morning around 6:30 AM, Percy Duval entered the room where she was sleeping with the suspect's daughter. At one point, the suspect allegedly touched her under her clothing. The complainant also reported numerous instances of teasing and detailed how the sexual touching occurred, stating that she pretended to be asleep out of fear.
Third Complaint
On Thursday, April 16, a third girl filed a complaint. Aged 14, she stated that the offenses dated back to 2021. Out of fear, she had remained silent until she found the courage to come forward after seeing other accusations and the suspect's arrest. She explained that the suspect had touched her inappropriately and that she woke up to find him in a suspicious position over her. He allegedly instructed her not to say anything, claiming he was just checking on her. "I was just making sure you were asleep," he reportedly said. Since then, this girl has never returned to her friend’s house.
Attorney Deveena Deonaran-Joyram: "The protection of minors and the integrity of judicial procedures must take precedence"
"The protection of minors and the integrity of judicial procedures must take precedence," asserts attorney Deveena Deonaran-Joyram, who is part of the Hawoldar firm representing the complainants. The attorney noted that the case is currently in the judicial system, with the Family Protection Brigade and the Central Criminal Investigation Department launching investigations. She mentioned serious accusations of child sexual abuse. According to her, the complainants are fully cooperating with the authorities. Given that judicial procedures and the CCID investigation are ongoing, she stated that it would not be appropriate for her to comment further. Attorney Deveena Deonaran-Joyram emphasized that her clients believe that the case should proceed according to the law, respecting the protection of minors and the integrity of the judicial process.
