PNQ: The Opposition Leader Questions Compensation Received by Sithanen and Sanspeur

On Tuesday, October 7, two months after the parliamentary break, the sessions will resume. This Private Notice Question (PNQ) will focus on the resignation of Rama Sithanen from his position as Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, as well as that of Gérard Sanspeur, who served as Second Deputy Governor.

The Opposition Leader, Joe Lesjongard, will direct a series of questions to Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam starting at 11:30 AM.

Lesjongard will seek clarification on the circumstances surrounding the resignations of Rama Sithanen and Gérard Sanspeur, as well as the compensations awarded to both individuals. He will also inquire about the costs of the missions they undertook and the amounts of per diem paid to them.

Additionally, the Opposition Leader will request explanations regarding the reasons that led the Prime Minister to ask Rama Sithanen to resign from his position as chairman of the Board of the Financial Services Commission (FSC).

Furthermore, Joe Lesjongard will question the Prime Minister about the measures taken to restore confidence within the Bank of Mauritius and the financial sector as a whole.
