Macabre Discovery in Plaine-des-Papayes: Aumanashing Cornet Suspected of Strangling His Wife Natasha
A chilling discovery was made in Plaine-des-Papayes on the afternoon of Sunday, October 26. The lifeless body of Natasha Vidushi Cornet, 35, was found on an abandoned plot of land along the Canal Villebague river. Her husband, Aumanashing Cornet, 37, is the main suspect and is currently the subject of an intensive search. A repeat offender, his criminal record is well-known at the Goodlands police station for various offenses.
According to initial investigations, the couple left their home in Goodlands around 8 a.m., without informing their 17-year-old son of their whereabouts. Shortly after 1 p.m., the father called the young man with a chilling confession: "I have hidden your mother by the river." He provided specific directions to locate the site before hanging up.
Since that call, Aumanashing Cornet has been untraceable. Accompanied by a 23-year-old friend, the son immediately went to the location. He first spotted his father's locked car and then, while searching the area, discovered his mother's body. Natasha Cornet was lying by the banks of the Canal Villebague river, her feet submerged in the water while the rest of her body lay on the ground.
Motive and Police Intervention
The police were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene, where the victim was formally identified. Information gathered suggests that a violent domestic dispute preceded the tragedy. Aumanashing Cornet allegedly accused his wife of being a police informant, blaming her for his ongoing legal troubles. The young woman, who worked at a jewelry store in Goodlands, was reportedly strangled to death by her husband. After committing the act, the suspect allegedly indicated by phone his intention to take his own life.
