Murder in Plaine-des-Papayes: Natasha Cornet died from neck compression
Natasha Cornet, 35, was killed by her husband. Her body was discovered yesterday on a vacant lot by a river in Morcellement Sainte-André, Plaine-des-Papayes.
The tragedy reportedly occurred following yet another domestic dispute. The suspect, Aumanand Singh Cornet, 37, suspected his wife of having reported him to the police multiple times. After the murder, he allegedly attempted to take his own life.
In the early hours of Monday, the man was arrested in the street, gravely injured, with a deep laceration on his arm. He had previously called his 17-year-old son to confess that he had killed his mother before stating his intention to commit suicide.
The suspect, who was already known to the police, was taken to the North Hospital, where he is currently receiving care. His health condition does not yet allow the police to take his statement.
He will be provisionally charged with murder upon his release from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
