Pravind Jugnauth Pays Tribute to Eddy Boissezon: "He Was a Very Devoted Person"
Former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth visited the Elie and Sons funeral home in Beau-Bassin to pay his last respects to former Vice President Eddy Boissezon, who passed away on Saturday at the age of seventy-three.
"He was a very dedicated person, committed to his work. I remember him as very humble and calm. His contributions have left a mark on the history of our country. I am saddened that he has left us, as he was suffering greatly. I had the opportunity to visit him a few days ago; he was always cheerful and in good spirits," stated Pravind Jugnauth.
A former member of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), Eddy Boissezon joined the Muvman Liberater in 2014, where he served as the party’s secretary-general.
He was a member of the National Assembly from 1995 to 2000 and again from 2014 to 2019. In January 2017, he was appointed Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, a role he held until November 2019.
Born on March 28, 1952, Eddy Boissezon attended secondary school at St. Joseph College in Curepipe. Before entering politics, he worked at Barclays Bank and then as the Human Resources Manager at Scott & Co. Ltd. He also served as General Manager of ATICS & Co. Ltd.
Eddy Boissezon was a father of three.
His funeral will take place on Monday morning. The funeral procession will leave the Elie and Sons funeral home on Royal Road in Beau-Bassin at 9:15 AM, heading to the Visitation Church in Vacoas, followed by burial at the Saint-Pierre cemetery.
