Ivan Collendavelloo Pays Tribute to Eddy Boissezon: 'He Was a Good Person'
On Sunday, Ivan Collendavelloo paid tribute to Eddy Boissezon, stating, "He was a good person." The leader of the Muvman Liberater expressed his condolences after bidding farewell to the former vice president at the Elie and Sons funeral chapel in Beau-Bassin.
"The turnout of people paying their respects highlights the strength of Eddy Boissezon's personality and the impact of his political career," Collendavelloo remarked, visibly emotional.
He further expressed his deep sadness over Boissezon's passing, saying, "He always worked for others without seeking anything in return."
Collendavelloo recalled a conversation he had with Pravind Jugnauth regarding the vice presidency after the 2019 legislative elections, where they both mentioned Boissezon's name simultaneously, recognizing him as the obvious choice. Boissezon was surprised when Collendavelloo informed him of the nomination, as he did not expect to be chosen.
Eddy Boissezon passed away on Saturday at the age of seventy-three. A former member of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), he joined the Muvman Liberater in 2014, where he served as the party's secretary-general.
He was a member of the National Assembly from 1995 to 2000 and again from 2014 to 2019. In January 2017, he was appointed Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, a position he held until November 2019.
Born on March 28, 1952, Boissezon completed his secondary education at St. Joseph College in Curepipe. Before entering politics, he worked at Barclays Bank and served as the human resources manager at Scott & Co. Ltd., and also held the position of Managing Director at ATICS & Co. Ltd.
A father of three, Eddy Boissezon will be laid to rest on Monday morning. The funeral procession will leave the Elie and Sons chapel on Royal Road in Beau-Bassin at 9:15 AM, heading to the Church of the Visitation in Vacoas before his interment at the Saint-Pierre cemetery.
