Solidarity: IBL Supports Vulnerable Families

As the year-end festivities approach, the IBL group has initiated several solidarity actions in support of families and children assisted by the Joseph Lagesse Foundation. These initiatives, carried out throughout December, have mobilized the group's teams around concrete interventions rooted in the social realities of various regions of the country.

The highlight of this mobilization took place on Monday, December 22, with the distribution of food parcels to vulnerable families in the regions of Batterie-Cassée, Baie-du-Tombeau, and Bambous. The beneficiaries are supported by field workers directly connected to the Joseph Lagesse Foundation, allowing for targeted and tailored assistance to the identified needs within the communities.

Prior to this distribution, staff from the IBL Head Office committed on December 17 and 18 to preparing the food parcels. This effort was a continuation of the Social Engagement Day held on December 10, a day dedicated to raising awareness and fostering exchange, during which teams gained a better understanding of the realities faced by the communities supported by the foundation and were able to engage more consciously.

According to Murielle Adelson, Social Projects and Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator of the Joseph Lagesse Foundation, these initiatives reflect a strong collective mobilization. "These initiatives demonstrate the commitment of the teams and the Foundation's willingness to act concretely and responsibly within the communities it supports. They represent a collective effort, in which the staff of the IBL Head Office are fully involved. Through our actions in Batterie-Cassée, Baie-du-Tombeau, and Bambous, we provide support as the holidays approach, while grounding our approach in a fundamental reflection on food security in Mauritius. This commitment is part of our ongoing initiative, 'Solidarity Kitchens,' which places access to dignified and responsible food at the heart of our daily actions."

In the spirit of sustainability, the Social Engagement Day also encouraged the voluntary involvement of several employees, inviting them to participate in both short-term and long-term initiatives. The Joseph Lagesse Foundation maintains close ties with communities such as Batterie-Cassée, Baie-du-Tombeau, and Bois-Marchand, which it supports through educational assistance and community development programs.

In a sustainable action framework, IBL volunteers are encouraged to visit the field to gather precise information and establish the profile of each community. This data will subsequently serve as a baseline for the co-creation of targeted programs, particularly in the areas of education, health, and community development.
