191st Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery: Mahen Gondeea Pays Tribute to Slaves at Historical Sites
On the occasion of the 191st anniversary of the abolition of slavery, celebrated annually on February 1st, Mahen Gondeea, the Minister of Arts and Culture, participated on Saturday, January 31st, in several wreath-laying ceremonies at historical sites related to this memory. These included the Slave Basin in Pamplemousses, the Frederik Hendrik site in Vieux Grand-Port, and the Slave Monument at Pointe-Canon in Mahébourg. The minister emphasized the significance of these sites.
