Tropical Depression: Deteriorating Weather Expected in St-Brandon Starting Friday Evening

In a special announcement for St-Brandon issued at 10:45 AM on Thursday, February 5th, the Vacoas weather station reported that the tropical system developing east of Agalega has intensified into a tropical depression.

"As of 10 AM, the depression was centered around 13.6° South and 61.8° East, moving southwest at approximately 12 km/h. The environmental conditions are favorable for the system to intensify as it approaches St-Brandon," the meteorological services stated. If the system evolves into a moderate tropical storm, it will be named Gezani by the Vacoas weather station.

Weather in St-Brandon is expected to deteriorate starting Friday evening, with moderate to occasionally heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms. The east wind will gradually strengthen, reaching an average speed of 50 km/h, with gusts potentially nearing 100 km/h, becoming even stronger on Saturday.

The sea will become rough and then very rough, with swells of about 4 meters, potentially reaching around 6 meters on Saturday. Sea outings are discouraged starting tomorrow.
