Operation of the ADSU and FCC at the Gurbhoo Residence: Major Jewelry and Vehicle Seizures

A large-scale operation conducted by the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) from Rose-Hill, in collaboration with the Financial Crime Commission (FCC), took place at the Gurbhoo residence in Résidence Barkly, Beau-Bassin, this Wednesday.

The authorities, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Ramburuth and Chief Inspector Subareddi, suspected illicit enrichment and money laundering linked to drug trafficking and searched the homes of four members of the Gurbhoo family.

In Pascal Gurbhoo's luxurious villa with a pool, a truck driver, significant amounts of jewelry, brand-name watches, and several vehicles including a Daf truck, a Ford Wildtrak SUV, a motorcycle, and a bobcat were seized.

Simultaneously, in two other homes of the Gurbhoo family on Avenue Iris, a high-capacity Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a car, additional motorcycles, and a quad bike were found.

At Pointe-aux-Sables, another family member's residence yielded cash and vehicles.

All four members of the Gurbhoo family have been apprehended and are currently being interrogated at the Financial Crime Commission regarding the origins of their wealth. The operation was supervised by Police Superintendent Jankee of the ADSU Western Division, along with FCC officers.
