Disappearance of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun: Recent Travels of Her Partner Scrutinized

The investigation by the Major Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT) into the disappearance of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun, 37, is intensifying. Investigators are scrutinizing the recent movements of her partner, Arvind Ramchurn, a doctor, in order to gather clues that might lead them to the missing woman, who has not been seen since February 26. In the absence of any trace of her, they suspect a murder, a theory bolstered by the discovery of blood in the suspect's vehicle.

On Tuesday evening, Arvind Ramchurn was arrested and presented in court on Wednesday, March 11, for provisional charges of murder.

Since Monday, investigators have been reviewing footage from several surveillance cameras to establish a timeline of his car's movements. These trips, from Fond-du-Sac to various locations in the North, were identified in the Safe City footage in the days following Yogeshwaree Bhunjun's disappearance, who is a mother of two. The investigators are trying to determine the exact locations visited by the doctor as well as the duration of his stops.

On Tuesday evening, during scientific analyses conducted in the vehicle, traces of blood were found using a Blue Star Test. Faced with this discovery, Arvind Ramchurn explained that he had transported animal flesh a few days earlier. According to him, blood had leaked from bags placed on the seats and scattered despite a cleaning attempt with paper towels.

In the meantime, Arvind Ramchurn continues to deny any involvement in Yogeshwaree Bhunjun's disappearance. During his interrogation, he maintained his story, stating that his partner left their home in Fond-du-Sac after an argument and that he had not heard from her since.

The father of the thirty-something woman has filed a missing person report with the police, while her partner has registered a "Precautionary Measure" to inform the authorities that his partner had left the house. Arvind Ramchurn is provisionally charged with murder before the Pamplemousses court and remains in police custody.
