Disappearance of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun: Recent Movements of Her Partner Under Scrutiny
An investigation by the Major Crimes Investigation Team (MCIT) into the disappearance of 37-year-old Yogeshwaree Bhunjun is intensifying. Investigators are meticulously examining the recent movements of her partner, Arvind Ramchurn, a doctor, to gather clues that could lead them to the missing woman, who has not been seen since February 26. In the absence of any trace of her, they suspect foul play, a theory bolstered by the discovery of blood in the suspect's vehicle.
On Tuesday evening, Arvind Ramchurn was arrested and presented in court on Wednesday, March 11, facing preliminary charges of murder.
Since Monday, investigators have reviewed several surveillance camera images to establish a timeline of his vehicle's movements. These trips, from Fond-du-Sac to various locations in the North, were captured on Safe City footage in the days following Yogeshwaree Bhunjun's disappearance. The investigators aim to pinpoint the exact locations visited by the doctor and the duration of his stops.
On Tuesday evening, scientific analyses conducted in the vehicle revealed blood traces through a Blue Star Test. Confronted with this discovery, Arvind Ramchurn claimed that he had transported animal flesh a few days earlier. According to him, blood had leaked from bags placed on the seats and had scattered despite cleaning efforts using paper towels.
Meanwhile, Arvind Ramchurn continues to deny any involvement in Yogeshwaree Bhunjun's disappearance. During his interrogation, he maintained that his partner left their home in Fond-du-Sac after an argument and that he had not heard from her since.
The thirty-something's father has filed a report with the police to report her disappearance, while her partner has registered a "Precautionary Measure" to inform the authorities that his partner had left the house. Arvind Ramchurn is provisionally charged with murder in the Pamplemousses court and remains in police custody.
