Geopolitical Uncertainties: Michael Sik Yuen Recommends Limiting Car Use When Possible

In light of the uncertainties stemming from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the Minister of Commerce, Michael Sik Yuen, has urged caution. He calls on the public to adapt to the rising cost of living by adopting more responsible consumption habits. His remarks were made during the 177th annual general meeting of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), held on Thursday, March 26.

According to him, this international situation could increase price pressures, particularly due to rising energy and transportation costs. In this context, he believes that the public must adjust to a scenario marked by a surge in living expenses.

"The population must adapt in the face of the crisis and the rising cost of living," he stated. The minister encouraged consumers to reassess some of their daily habits to better manage their expenses.

Among the measures discussed, Michael Sik Yuen specifically recommends limiting car use whenever possible to reduce fuel costs. He also encourages Mauritians to consider cheaper products or brands to ease their budgets.
