Ashok Subron: "If this was the reference during these 15 months, it shouldn't have been done this way"
Resistance and Alternatives (ReA) is urging the government to reconsider its political stance, advocating for a shift towards a more social, ecological, and solidarity-based approach. This statement was made during a press conference held yesterday, Saturday, March 28. Ashok Subron, the minister and spokesperson for ReA, explained that this position comes after 15 months of governance, in a context marked by geopolitical challenges and recent political changes. "If this was the reference during these 15 months, it shouldn't have been done this way," he stated.
ReA also expressed concerns over decisions they believe are influenced by economic lobbies and foreign powers, specifically mentioning the bill regarding torrential rains. Several proposals have been put forward, including electoral reform without ethnic classification, social, environmental, and economic measures, as well as an increase in transparency.
On the other hand, Junior Minister Kugan Parapen acknowledged the challenging economic conditions, worsened by the international context. He emphasized that "for economic indicators to turn positive, difficult, courageous, and responsible actions are necessary. Time is also needed," while stressing the importance of restoring political stability before the next budget.
