Energy Security: The Middle East War Revives the Debate in Mauritius

The war in the Middle East has brought the issue of energy security back to the forefront in Mauritius.

"There has been a delay, but now is not the time for words; it's time for action," asserts Dr. Khalill Elahee, president of the Energy Efficiency Management Office, in light of the risks of a crisis.

Khalill Elahee emphasizes the urgent need to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Among the solutions discussed are the development of photovoltaic panels and incentives for households.

According to him, the government is expected to soon propose plans aimed at the middle class.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Energy, Patrick Assirvaden, will address the press this Monday, April 6, to update on the situation of renewable energies in Mauritius.
