Energy Security: The War in the Middle East Revives the Debate in Mauritius

The war in the Middle East brings the issue of energy security in Mauritius back to the forefront.

"There has been a delay, but now is not the time for words; it is time for action," asserts Dr. Khalill Elahee, president of the Energy Efficiency Management Office, in light of the looming crisis risks.

Khalill Elahee emphasizes the urgency of accelerating the transition to renewable energy. Among the proposed solutions are the development of photovoltaic panels and incentives for households.

According to him, the government is expected to soon propose plans aimed at the middle class.

It is noteworthy that Energy Minister Patrick Assirvaden will address the press on Monday, April 6, to update on the situation of renewable energies in Mauritius.
