Crisis Committee Meeting: Proposals This Friday at the Council of Ministers

The crisis committee tasked with assessing the economic and social impacts of the Middle East conflict convened on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 8, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.

The discussions focused on the security of essential supplies, including fuel stocks, energy resources, and food items, all of which are currently considered stable.

Several proposals were made during this meeting. These aim to strengthen strategic reserves, diversify supply sources, and establish rapid response mechanisms in case of shortages or rising prices in international markets, while also protecting the most vulnerable populations.

These recommendations will be reviewed at the upcoming Council of Ministers meeting scheduled for this Friday. This step will be crucial for adopting concrete measures aimed at mitigating the potential effects of the crisis on the Mauritian economy.
