PNQ: Lesjongard Seeks to Know State Expenses in the Chagos Case

The Private Notice Question (PNQ) from opposition leader Joe Lesjongard will be directed to the Prime Minister this Tuesday. It will address the transfer of sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius.

Joe Lesjongard demands the disclosure of the latest official exchanges between Mauritius and the United Kingdom regarding this matter.

Regarding the transfer of sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to the Republic of Mauritius, the Prime Minister is required to indicate the status of the steps concerning:

(a) the submission to the Assembly of the most recent official communications exchanged between the Government of the Republic of Mauritius and the Government of the United Kingdom on this issue;

(b) the disclosure of the names of international and local legal advisors appointed by the government for this purpose since December 2024 to date, specifying the costs incurred for legal fees, flight tickets, and daily allowances related to this, including those concerning the honorable Attorney General.

The PNQ will take place starting at 11:20 AM.
