Mpox: Two Suspected Cases in Mauritius, One Patient Actively Sought
Two suspected cases of Mpox have been reported in Mauritius. This information was confirmed this morning by Dr. Fazil Khodabocus, the interim director of health services.
The first case involves a 46-year-old Mauritian who returned from Madagascar a few days ago. A sample has been collected and sent to the Candos laboratory, with results expected this afternoon. The patient is currently under isolation care at the hospital.
The second suspected case was reported late yesterday afternoon. This involves a French national arriving from Mayotte. According to initial reports, the on-call doctor suspected a case of Mpox due to skin lesions.
However, this patient reportedly left the hospital without authorization. Searches are underway to locate him.
