Weather: A heavy rain warning remains in effect until 4 PM, thunderstorms expected
A heavy rain warning is in effect in Mauritius until 4 PM on Friday, April 24th.
Atmospheric conditions remain unstable in the region, promoting the formation of active clouds, according to a statement from the Vacoas meteorological station issued at 4:30 AM.
The sky will be partly cloudy in the morning, becoming overcast at times with showers. These showers may be moderate to locally heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms.
Temporary water accumulation is likely in flood-prone areas. Pockets of fog are also expected in some regions, reducing visibility.
The maximum temperature will range between 25 and 27 °C in elevated areas, and between 29 and 31 °C in coastal regions.
Winds will blow from the east at approximately 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.
The sea will be rough beyond the reefs with swells from the southwest of about 3 meters. Offshore outings are not recommended.
The public is advised to:
- Stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, and sea outings;
- Not seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms;
- Avoid areas prone to water accumulation;
- Exercise extreme caution on the roads due to reduced visibility caused by showers and fog.
