Weather Alert for Heavy Rain: Showers with Isolated Thunderstorms and Wind Gusts of 50 km/h Expected This Saturday

A weather alert for heavy rain is in effect in Mauritius, valid until 10:00 AM today. According to the meteorological station, atmospheric conditions remain humid and unstable in our region.

This morning, the weather is cloudy with showers that could be moderate to locally heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms. Pockets of fog are likely, especially in elevated areas.

In the afternoon and during the night, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times with showers mainly in the east, south, and on the central plateau. These showers could be locally moderate and accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.

The maximum temperature will range between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius in elevated areas, while it will vary between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius in coastal regions.

As for the minimum temperature, it will be between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on the central plateau and between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius on the coast.

The wind is blowing from the east-southeast at about 20 km/h with gusts of up to 50 km/h.

The sea is strong beyond the reefs with southwest swells of 3 meters.

Outings offshore as well as in the lagoons of the west and south are not recommended.

  1. Stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, going out to sea, and do not seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
  2. Avoid areas prone to water accumulation.
  3. Be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility from showers and fog.
