Death of Former Minister Abu Kasenally at the Age of 84

Dr. Abu Kasenally passed away this morning after a long illness at the age of 84. A renowned surgeon, he made significant contributions to the public health sector, particularly as the director of Jeetoo Hospital and Victoria Hospital.

Involved in politics, he served as Minister of Public Services and Minister of Housing and Lands. He was born in Rivière-du-Rempart.

Dr. Abu Kasenally entered Parliament during the general elections of 2005, elected in constituency No. 15 (La Caverne–Phoenix). He was subsequently re-elected in 2010 for the Rivière-des-Anguilles/Souillac constituency, continuing his political engagement until 2014.

His funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 PM. His body will leave his residence in Clairfonds, Vacoas, heading to the Riche-Terre cemetery.
