Saint-Pierre: A Dispute Over Rs 2,000 Leads to the Murder of Nawsheen Chady

Saint-Pierre: A dispute over Rs 2,000 has led to the murder of Nawsheen Chady. This 37-year-old woman succumbed to blows inflicted by her husband, using a metal bar, on Thursday, July 10.

Her husband, Safwaan Chady, 38, has confessed to the crime. Initially, he attempted to mislead the police by claiming he witnessed an altercation between his wife and his mother. However, surveillance footage quickly contradicted his story. A drug addict, he was arguing with his wife over a sum of Rs 2,000.

Married for fourteen years and parents of two children, the couple had been fighting for three days over the Rs 2,000. On several occasions, Safwaan had threatened to harm Nawsheen and other relatives. The victim had even informed her mother, who alerted the police in Saint-Pierre yesterday morning.

However, the situation escalated yesterday afternoon. Armed with a metal bar, Safwaan violently struck his wife multiple times, before delivering a fatal blow to her head.

The autopsy, conducted by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, attributed the death to a skull fracture and brain laceration.

Safwaan Chady will be brought before the Moka court this afternoon, Friday, July 11, under a provisional charge of murder.
