Reward Money Case: Superintendent Jagai Questioned 'Under Warning'

In the Reward Money case, Superintendent Ashik Jagai responded with "Nothing" to a question from the Défi Media Group regarding whether he had any wrongdoing to disclose. He arrived at the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) in Réduit on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, accompanied by his lawyer, Me Raouf Gulbul. A significant presence from the Special Support Unit was deployed at the FCC.

The senior police official is being questioned 'under warning.' The former head of the now-defunct Special Striking Team (SST) will need to explain the amounts associated with the Reward Money case, totaling several million rupees, which the SST claimed to pay informants between August 2022 and the unit's dissolution in November 2024.

Jagai's hearing is deemed crucial for the continuation of the investigation.

As a reminder, FCC investigators have already heard from a former SST member, Sergeant Yusuf Hossen, who was arrested in connection with this case and faces two provisional charges of money laundering in court.
