Reward Money: "Here you are trapped, the court will decide," says SP Jagai's lawyer

"I am confident in Mr. Jagai's defense. The procedures are underway. There is no other way. Here you are trapped, the court will eventually decide." This was declared by lawyer Me Raouf Gulbul to reporters following the arrest of his client, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashik Jagai, on Wednesday evening, August 13, after being interrogated "under warning" by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC). This arrest is part of the investigation into allegations of misconduct surrounding the "Reward Money" within the police force.
According to Me Raouf Gulbul, his client was confronted with documents before being placed under arrest. The former head of the now-defunct Police Headquarters Special Striking Team (PHQ SST) will spend the night in detention at the Coromandel police station.
The FCC accuses him of recommending several irregular payments from this fund intended for police informants. He will be presented in court on Thursday, August 14, for his provisional charge. Ashik Jagai is expected to be taken back to Réduit Triangle for further questioning, according to his lawyer.
For Me Raouf Gulbul, "the Constitution states that he is innocent until a court declares him guilty." He adds that the investigation is progressing "very well."
