Indictment of Sanjiv Ramdanee: 'Another Political Arrest', claims Pravind Jugnauth

Pravind Jugnauth, the former Prime Minister, made a brief statement on Wednesday, December 3, as he left the Port Louis District Court, where he was present to support his brother-in-law, Sanjiv Ramdanee.

Ramdanee appeared under a provisional charge of conspiracy after spending the night at Moka Detention Center. He was arrested the previous day by the Financial Crimes Commission as part of the investigation into the "Toxic Loans" case, and is suspected of conspiring to obtain a loan of 470 million rupees intended for the construction of villas at Maradiva.

Sanjiv Ramdanee is required to provide two bail guarantees of 700,000 rupees each and sign a debt acknowledgment of 5 million rupees.
