Goodlands: Police Investigates After Video of Suspect Being Beaten with a Baton Surfaces

The video has been trending on social media since Thursday. It depicts an individual being violently assaulted by a police officer using a baton. The incident reportedly occurred in Goodlands.

According to available information, the victim is a 25-year-old local resident who is suspected of having attacked someone with acid last Tuesday. This assault is believed to have been connected to an attempt to pass a counterfeit banknote, which the victim allegedly refused to accept.

He was arrested early Thursday morning for the offense of "Assault With Corrosive Substances," but the police reported that he managed to escape from the police station. However, he was later spotted and re-arrested in an alleyway in Goodlands, where he had been hiding.

The police state that the suspect resisted arrest vigorously, displaying hostile and aggressive behavior towards law enforcement officers. The widely circulated footage shows the suspect lying on the ground, receiving multiple baton strikes from a police officer, while shocked residents look on. The video also suggests that other uniformed officers intervened in an attempt to calm their colleague.
