"Keep Trying": Paul Bérenger Remains Vague About His Possible Departure from Government
"Keep trying." This was Paul Bérenger's response to Radio Plus reporters when asked about a potential exit from the government.
The Deputy Prime Minister spoke after a parliamentary meeting that gathered members of the ruling party at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, March 16. He chose not to provide any further comments.
When questioned about the matter, Rajesh Bhagwan, a member of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien, stated that he was heading to the party's political office in Rose-Hill. Ajay Gunness, the deputy leader of the purple party, gave the same response.
Earlier in the day, Paul Bérenger and Navin Ramgoolam had a half-hour meeting at the Treasury building late in the morning. According to some reports, this meeting would not alter the Deputy Prime Minister's decision to leave his position.
The political office of the purple party is set to meet this afternoon at Ambrose at 4:30 PM. Paul Bérenger is expected to provide insights on his stance then.
