Prisons: Dev Jokhoo Exposes Corruption Attempts

Former prison commissioner, Dev Jokhoo, has spoken out about corruption practices he claims to have witnessed within the prison administration. He made these statements to the press after his hearing before the Board of Inquiry, which is investigating the death of Andy Selmour at Melrose prison. According to him, a Senior Prison Officer had suggested he follow in the footsteps of his predecessors, who allegedly owned villas and other assets acquired through illicit enrichment.

"I told him to resign because we don’t need people like him," he stated.

Dev Jokhoo insists he refused any compromises and rejected significant financial offers. He claims a lawyer even offered him millions of rupees to facilitate the transfer of an inmate, but the former commissioner states that such incidents never occurred while he was in office.
