Showers and Thunderstorms Expected This Saturday

A weather warning for heavy rain is in effect in Mauritius until 8 PM this Saturday. The atmospheric conditions in our region are unstable. Generally, the weather is partly cloudy this morning with occasional showers in the East and in the highlands. Moderate to heavy localized showers with thunderstorms are expected during the day in the western half and on the Central Plateau. These showers will spread to other areas in the evening. The sky will clear late in the evening, and it will be mostly clear overnight.

Visibility will be reduced due to fog and under the showers. Water accumulation is likely in flood-prone areas. The public is advised to stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, outings at sea, and not to seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms. It is also recommended to avoid areas prone to water accumulation. Caution is advised on the roads due to reduced visibility from heavy showers and fog.

The east-southeast wind will blow at about 15 km/h, becoming variable during the night. The sea will be rough beyond the reefs with south-west swells of about 2 meters.

The maximum temperature will range from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius in elevated areas and from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius in coastal regions. The minimum temperature will range from 19 to 21 degrees Celsius on the Central Plateau and from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius along the coast.
