Weather: A Warning for Strong Swells in Effect from 4 AM Friday, May 1st
A warning for strong swells has been issued for Mauritius at 4 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026. This warning will be in effect from 4 AM on Friday, May 1st, until 4 AM on Saturday, May 2nd.
According to a statement from the meteorological station, energetic swells are approaching the Mascarenes from the southwest and will begin to affect the sea conditions around the island starting tomorrow morning.
The sea will gradually become very rough, with waves potentially reaching about 4 meters.
These conditions may lead to breaking waves along the low-lying coastal areas, particularly in the west and south, especially during high tides.
Authorities strongly advise fishermen, boaters, and the general public to avoid going out to sea.
It is also discouraged to venture onto the beaches during high tides due to increased risks.
