Rain and Storms Expected This Thursday
A severe weather warning is in effect for Mauritius until this Friday, January 30, at 10 AM. Active clouds that were influencing the weather have moved to the East. However, additional active clouds coming from the North may impact local weather starting this afternoon. This morning, the weather is overcast with occasional showers, which may become locally heavy this afternoon and are likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Water accumulation is expected in flood-prone areas. Visibility will be reduced due to fog and during showers. The wind is light and variable but may strengthen with gusts during the showers. The sea will be rough beyond the reefs with swells from the southwest reaching about 2 meters, gradually becoming stronger this afternoon. Offshore activities are not recommended starting this afternoon.
The public is advised to stay indoors and avoid low-lying areas, hiking, sea outings, and not to shelter under trees during storms. It is also wise to avoid areas prone to water accumulation. Caution is advised on the roads due to reduced visibility from heavy showers and fog.
The maximum temperature will be below average, ranging from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius in the Central Plateau and from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius in coastal regions. The minimum temperature will range from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius in the Central Plateau and from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius along the coast.
