Seizure of 300 Kilos of Cocaine at Sea: Mobilization of Multiple Police Units at the Port
A significant operation is underway at the port while awaiting the arrival of a ship that was carrying a substantial cocaine shipment—nearly 300 kilos—seized at sea. Various police units, including the National Coast Guard (NCG) and the Anti-Drug Squad (ADSU), are on site to coordinate the operations.
Approximately 300 kilos of a substance suspected to be cocaine were discovered aboard a Greek-flagged oil tanker, the Alpha Bravery. The local market value of this drug is estimated at Rs 4.5 billion.
The ship's captain alerted the authorities in Mauritius after the discovery, which took place on Saturday afternoon, while the vessel was crossing from South America to Singapore.
Since Sunday morning, teams from the ADSU and NCG commandos have been deployed at the port after the ship was intercepted at sea.
The oil tanker is expected to dock in Port-Louis in the afternoon, escorted by the NCG.
