Murder of Sivanee Saminaden: The Cameroonian Association Strongly Condemns the Criminal Act
In a message of condolences and solidarity, the Cameroonian Association in Mauritius expressed its deepest sympathies to the victim's family and to the entire Mauritian nation following the recent tragic event.
"We firmly condemn this criminal act, which in no way reflects the values, culture, or spirit of the Cameroonian community living here," the Association emphasized in a post published on its Facebook page on Wednesday, January 7.
As residents of this beautiful island, we remain committed to:
✅ Respecting the laws of our host country.
✅ Promoting peace, social cohesion, and mutual respect.
✅ Fully cooperating with Mauritian authorities to ensure justice is served.
We value the friendship between our two nations and pray for comfort for those in mourning.
It is important to note that this message comes after Beltrami Kemayou, a 24-year-old Cameroonian, was arrested for the murder of his partner, Sivanee Saminaden, a 29-year-old Mauritian, which occurred on Sunday, January 4, in Petit-Raffray. He is also accused of abandoning their six-month-old baby in a barrel outside their home before fleeing. The suspect was later found on Anse-La-Raie beach after being lynched by bystanders who witnessed his assault on a 16-year-old teenager. Earlier, he had also violently attacked a French female driver in Calodyne, biting her on the nose and lips.
