Curepipe Court: Frédéric Pavaday's Bail Request Decision Set for March 10
The Curepipe court will make a ruling on March 10, 2026, regarding the bail request of Frédéric (Patrick) Pavaday, a former music teacher at Loreto Junior School in Curepipe. The case was called this Friday, March 6, 2026, before Magistrate Shavina Jugnauth.
The prosecution, represented by Me Princilla Vanishee Veerabudren, Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, opposed the bail application. They argued that "no conditions can be imposed at this stage to minimize the risks of interference with witnesses," as the police investigation has only just begun. According to the prosecution, three alleged victims have already come forward, some aged 10 to 11 years at the time of the incidents.
The prosecution also noted that investigators are considering the possibility of other potential victims coming forward.
The defendant faces four provisional charges, including "causing a child to be sexually abused."
His lawyers, Me Sanjeev Teeluckdharry and Me Sachin Boodhoo, argued that the police's objections are unfounded and based on apprehensions. They reminded the court that their client is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
