Showers Expected This Sunday

A warning for heavy rain is in effect in Mauritius until 7 PM this Sunday. The atmospheric conditions remain unstable in our region. The weather is partly cloudy this morning, becoming occasionally overcast in the East and on the heights with some showers.

Cloud development is expected in the afternoon in the West, Southwest, and Central Plateau with localized showers. These showers will be moderate to heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms, and may spread to other areas by late afternoon. Pockets of fog will be present in certain locations. Localized showers are still expected early in the evening. The sky will clear afterwards, and it will mostly be nice during the night.

The wind will blow from the east-northeast at about 15 km/h, becoming light and variable during the night. The sea will be rough beyond the reefs with swells from the southwest reaching about 2 meters.

In case of showers, the public is advised to stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, sea outings, and not to seek shelter under trees during thunderstorms. It is also advisable to avoid areas prone to water accumulation. Caution is advised on the roads due to reduced visibility from heavy showers and fog.

The maximum temperature will range from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius on elevated grounds and from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius on coastal regions. The minimum temperature will be between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on the Central Plateau and between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius on the coast.
