Weather: Heavy Rain Warning in Effect Until 7 PM This Sunday, March 29, 2026
A heavy rain warning is in effect in Mauritius until 7 PM this Sunday, March 29, according to a special bulletin issued by the meteorological station.
Warm, humid, and unstable atmospheric conditions are leading to the formation of storm clouds over the island. Heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms are currently observed in the south and on the central plateau, and they may gradually spread to other regions. These thunderstorms could persist into the evening.
Temporary water accumulation is possible in flood-prone areas. Visibility will be reduced due to fog and showers in certain regions.
The public is advised to:
1- Stay sheltered, avoid low-lying areas, hiking, and going out to sea, and not to seek shelter under trees during storms;
2- Avoid areas prone to water accumulation;
3- Exercise extreme caution on the roads due to reduced visibility caused by heavy downpours and fog.
