Weather Update: Heavy Rain Warning Lifted, Alert for Heavy Rain Now in Effect Until Monday Morning
The heavy rain warning issued earlier this Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Mauritius has been lifted, as the clouds affecting the weather this afternoon are gradually dissipating.
However, other active clouds are approaching Mauritius from the southeast and will influence the weather starting this evening. Moderate showers, which could be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected, especially in the east, south, and central plateau. Therefore, a heavy rain alert remains in effect until Monday morning at 10:30 AM.
Water accumulation is likely in flood-prone areas, and visibility may be reduced during the showers and due to fog.
The public is advised to:
- Stay sheltered, avoid low-lying areas, hiking, and sea outings, and not to take refuge under trees during thunderstorms;
- Avoid areas prone to water accumulation;
- Exercise caution on the roads due to reduced visibility caused by heavy showers and fog.
