Junaid Fakim Remains in Custody: His Treating Doctor Claims He Suffered Further Complications After a Fall in the Bathroom

Junaid Haroon Fakim, the former commissioner of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), remains under observation at C-Care Wellkin Clinic following his arrest in connection with the investigation into Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga for alleged money laundering.

Chief Investigator of the FCC, Khemrajsingh Jokhoo, confirmed that the former commissioner is still hospitalized at C-Care Wellkin Clinic.

Dr. Muhammad Feizal Timol was heard in court in Rose-Hill this afternoon. He explained that two other doctors are now monitoring the patient after blood was found in his stool and after a fall in the bathroom.

The court has ordered that these two doctors be summoned to explain Junaid Haroon Fakim's health condition.

At the request of the FCC, Mr. Fakim will also be examined by public service doctors.

The case has been adjourned to November 11, 2025, to review his health status before any discussions regarding possible release.

It should be noted that the 41-year-old lawyer faces two provisional charges, namely "Public official using his office for gratification" and "breach of confidentiality," offenses specified in the FCC Act.

According to the indictment, while he was the commissioner of the FCC, he allegedly met with businessman Mamy Ravatomanga.

The FCC also accuses him of disclosing confidential information related to this investigation. These offenses are said to have occurred on October 14, 2025, in Quatre-Bornes.

During a hearing in the Rose-Hill court this afternoon, his lawyer, Me Urmila Boolell, Senior Counsel, expressed her dissatisfaction with the treatment of her client by the court.
